OPENING SESSIONS

10:00 am-10:20 am  Acknowledgements from Sara Jefferson, Richard Lopez-Perez, and Domi Hannon of the GMU Native American & Indigenous Alliance and Welcome by Dr. Ben Manski, Director of Next System Studies at Mason.

10:20 am-11:20 am  Keynote Address by Dr. Jessica Gordon Nembhard

11:30 am-12:30 pm Roll Call and Community Assembly

12:30 pm-1:30 pm  Lunch Break

AFTERNOON SESSIONS

1:30 pm-2:45 pm  Major Panel at Dewberry Hall on Community Wealth Building and the University featuring Karla Bruce (Chief Equity Officer, Fairfax County), Joe Guinan (The Democracy Collaborative), My Lan Tran (VA Asian Chamber of Commerce), and Guillermo Zamora (SEIU 32BJ), chaired by Dr. Amy Best (Center for Social Science Research).

3:00 pm-4:30 pm Workshops will take place in breakout rooms on the 3rd floor of the Johnson Center.

  • Building Community Wealth and the Solidarity Economy
    • Convened by Joe Guinan, Matthew Slaats, and co. in Meeting Room C
  • Digital Democracy for the DMV
    • Convened by Dr. Sarah Manski, Dhruv Deepak, Dr. John Dale, Jeff Elkner, and Aaron Rabach in Meeting Room B
  • Racial Equity: Repairing and Restoring our Communities
    • Convened by Ronnie Galvin in Meeting Room D

4:30 pm-6:00 pm  We are finished with Summit sessions for the day, but invite you to head to the NAIA Spring Powwow on the lawn of Merten Hall, just a five-minute walk from the Johnson Center. The Powwow begins at 2 pm and continues until 6 pm.
